There is a lot of talk at CTIA this year about the individual experiences wireless services can offer consumers.  Our booth, in particular, showcases how we help communications service providers build more valuable customer relationships by creating networks that offer individual experiences.  But what are those experiences?

There were some fantastic examples at today’s keynote addresses.  One of the most moving highlighted an amazing accomplishment by the telecommunications industry following the devastating earthquake in Haiti earlier this year.  More than $32 million dollars was raised for the American Red Cross’ Haiti relief effort just through texted donations.  And that is just one charity that was helped by people who were given an easy, and instant, way to help.  The ability for people to participate in “instant philanthropy” is an awesome example of what we mean by individual experience.

Another example comes from my personal life.  Yesterday, I experienced first hand the wonders of technology when my husband sent me a multimedia message—a sonogram of our unborn niece.  The fact that my brother-in-law in South Carolina can send a picture of his unborn daughter from his phone to his mother in New York and his brother in Boston, and then I receive it in Las Vegas, is truly an example of the individual experiences we can create that change the way we live our lives.

As we move into 4G, the challenges of creating these experiences will only grow.  But that’s why Nokia Siemens Networks has the Network of One, our blueprint for helping our customers provide these individual experiences, whether it’s helping disaster victims or sharing special family moments across thousands of miles.

P.S. Congratulations to the Nokia Siemens Networks energy solutions team for winning second place in the CTIA Emerging Technology Awards for Green Solutions!
