Markus Borchert, Executive Vice President and Head of Customer Operations of the Greater China Region at Nokia Siemens Networks, was awarded as Economic Figure of the Year of the China Information Industry at China Information Industry Economic Conference in Beijing on December 1st. Nokia Siemens Networks was highly appreciated for its track record of innovation and leadership in TD LTE as well as recognized for its contributions in globalizing this technology.
The presenting government officials of the awarding ceremony included Mr Su Bo, Vice Minister of Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). Other awardees at the conference included Microsoft, Lenovo, Intel and Symantec.
“I am very honored to receive this award and would like to thank my colleagues in regional leadership team and all our employees for all the efforts and hard work during this year”, said Markus. “For Nokia Siemens Networks, 2011 is a year of innovation in many areas including TD-LTE with a string of exciting achievements. These include leading lab test results during the joint tests conducted by MIIT and CMCC; completing our two pre-commercial city trials with CMCC with leading results; partnering with CMCC and MIIT to globalize TD-LTE and promoting the TD-LTE ecosystem development by facilitating device interoperability tests as well as launching own TD-LTE devices. A key enabler of this success is that we have established the whole value chain of TD-LTE locally in China, including product management, R&D, manufacturing, supply chain and also global sales and marketing.”
